THE ESSENCE OF USING CAST NET FOR FISHPOND OPERATION

CAST NET

A “CAST NET” is  a circular net with small weights distributed around its edge.  The net is cast or throw by hand in such a manner that it spreads out on the water and sinks.  It is very effective for catching BANGUS, VANNAMEI SHRIMPS and BLACK TIGER PRAWNS.

In a clockwise manner and lay the net across your left thigh until you have approximately half of the remaining net and lead line draped across your left thigh.

Therefore, the most important thing in cast net care is rinsing your net after every use.  Washing the net not only washes away the salt water; it also removes fish particles and slime remaining on the net.  Fish slime is particularly harmful in deteriorating the net.  Simply rinse well.  Then place the net into a dry storage area.

In addition, sunlight is another harmful element to the cast net.  Do not allow your cast net to stay in the sunlight for long period of time.  Over exposure to sunlight will cause the netting to become brittle and weak.

The net caster may choose to stand with one hand holding the handline.   With the net draped over the other arm in order that the weight will be approximately half of the weights in the throwing hand  being held higher.
